Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, known in abbreviated form as ADHD, a condition in which persons inability to focus and concentrate on the job or to interfere with his or her ability to be productive, but also negatively affects the social relations and self-esteem. There are three forms of ADHD: (i) primarily inattentive, which is seen more in girls and adults of both sexes (ii) First of all hyperactive, which is rarely seen, and (iii) Combined inattentive and hyperactive type, which is the most common. Although environmental factors contribute to the development of this condition, genetics is considered a primary cause.
In ADHD, the levels of chemicals called neurotransmitters are imbalanced situation in parts of the brain that control certain types of movements and executive function, and those parts of the brain may be smaller or less active than in normal people. Ayurvedic treatment of ADHD, then , focuses on the regulation of neurotransmitter levels, and causes the affected parts of the brain to function at optimum levels. Medications are used to achieve this are: Suvarna Bhasma, Suvarna Malini Vasant, Pancha Tikta Ghruta Guggulu, Vati Vishatinduk, Pippali (Piper longum), Vacha (Acorus calamus), Kapikacchu (Mucuna pruriens), Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) and Jyotishmati (Celastrus paniculatus ).
Drugs that provide symptomatic relief for the prevailing symptoms of ADHD are also used regularly to dugoročno.Mehanizam action of these drugs may overlap with those of the medicines listed above. Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri), Mandukparni (Centella asiatica) and shankhpushpi (Convolvulus pluricaulis) are used to reduce negligence and improve memory and organizational and executive skills. Jatamansi (Nardostachys jatamansi) and rarely, Sarpgandha (Raulwofia serpentina) are used to reduce hyperactivity.
In addition, drugs that enhance metabolism "majja" dhatu in the body are used in this condition for the improvement of brain dysfunction. Some of the drugs used for this purpose are: Chirayta (swertia chirata) guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia), Amalaki (Emblica officinalis) and Musta (Cyperus rotundus ).
In general, most children and adults with ADHD affected can manage quite well. It is recommended that parents or care givers to consult a suitably qualified and experienced doctor in the long term, and stay in touch with appropriate support groups.
